Jack Joysword

Image
Jack Joysword (half-elf bard/rogue) is my current main PC that I play in an Out of the Abyss campaign run by a friend. This is not the first time I've played this character, though her previous iteration was very  different. This was largely due to a simple component: Introducing another of the PCs in this campaign (Gaius, human rogue) into a major part of her backstory. Having this relationship caused me to alter various things about her "family" and work that have yet to be revealed to the other PCs, but it's been an interesting thing to work through.  Whereas in the previous campaign she was definitely Chaotic Neutral and much more selfish, this version of her is firmly Chaotic Good due to the influence of the Gaius. She also leaned much more heavily rogue in her past life than in this one, I believe ending as a level 7 swashbuckler rogue/3 valor bard. Her current version is a level 3 swashbuckler rogue/5 valor bard. Some things haven't changed, though.

Battle for Blingdenstone Stats

My friend  kokihi  tallied up some stats from the Battle for Blingdenstone (aka ugh, so many oozes!) that I thought were interesting so I decided to share: Cloak: Dealt 396 total damage, including 6 friendly fire damage. 11 healing given, not including 2 healing potions taken. Received 78 damage. Gaius: Dealt 471 total damage, including 63 friendly fire damage.  0 healing given. Received 27 damage. Got skipped 1 round but no one caught it. Roscoe: Dealt 154 total damage total.  Received 196 damage. Was unconscious for 3 rounds. Nordak: Dealt 89 damage total, including 4 friendly fire (which broke the dominate person spell on Gaius). 136 healing given, not including potions. Received 103 damage. It was an absolutely epic fight and everyone did their jobs very well. It was really intense, dealing with Gaius under the domination (especially since not all of us knew what was happening or could necessarily respond to it right away). I believe Gaius rolled 6 Nat20'

Campaign Guide

A Handy Dandy Guide To The Games I Tweet About The Road Goes Ever On My first DMing experience, running since January 2017 Originally set in the area around Daggerford, the party has been taken to the realm of Barovia (Curse of Strahd module) and already beset with horrors there. There's a tyrannical vampire lord in control of the realm and they are trapped there. I keep, generally, to published books and some Unearthed Arcana, though I do have a few house rules and I'm sure we'll add to them as time goes on. PCs Include: • Amalia (Lia) , half-elf celestial-pact warlock. A newer addition to the party, charming but has let slip some important secrets, much to several people's dismay. Her beauty and tongue is a double-edge sword. • Regina , aasimar glamour bard. Bubbly and charming (charismatically and magically), likely the happiest person in all of Barovia. • Ulec Brewthane , dwarven champion fighter. Brusque, bold. He wants

Morninglord (a song)

In May of last year, I felt inspired to write a hymn for my campaign. It was for Lathander, the Morninglord, and I ended up singing a bit of it for my players as part of one of our sessions (a hard thing for me as I don't normally sing in front of others). Here are the lyrics to the hymn! Morninglord Shine your light on us Your dawn comes Light the way Morninglord This new day you bring Gives us joy Makes us sing Morninglord When blackness haunts the land Our faith shines Like a brand Morninglord In your light we fight Fill our hearts With your might Morninglord In your righteousness Our foes Find justice Morninglord If our strength eludes Heal us all Of our wounds Morninglord In you we believe Grant us your Grand reprieve Morninglord Shine your light on us Your dawn comes Light the way Morninglord This new day you bring Gives us joy Makes us sing Morninglord Shine your light

More space for rambling

Decided to clear out my old Blogger account (nearly 9 years since I last used it) and re-purpose it for my D&D rambling and variety posts that don't quite fit on Twitter well. Posting will likely be even more infrequent than my Twitter posting, but hey! It's a thing.
